This is such a fun way to bless others! Through the Samaritan's Purse organization, the goal of Operation Christmas Child is to send shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies to children in need, around the world - all while sharing the love of Jesus!
As a family, we collect small gifts year-round, so we are able to bless several children each year! Collection week is usually mid-November. You can find boxes at participating churches, Hobby Lobby (closer to collection week time), or you can use your own shoebox. Their web site is full of great information! Always be sure to check what items are acceptable to send before you start shopping and packing your box. On their site, you'll also find official drop off locations, or check with local churches on when and where to bring your filled boxes.
Below we have some photos of boxes we have put together. Don't forget to also include a letter to the recipient! Every year, I'm so amazed at how much we fit in these shoeboxes! An absolute blessing! :)
Boy recipient:
